A New Star in the Eclipse Arrowhead Sky

A recently launched venture will bring new opportunities for the Eclipse Arrowhead framework in industrial settings.

BnearIT are important partners in the Eclipse Arrowhead project, playing a significant role in developing Eclipse Arrowhead’s core services as well as introducing the service oriented approach into new contexts. That is why it is exciting for the Eclipse Arrowhead project to see the launch of service oriented architecture and system integration specialists Sinetiq.

The new company is partly owned by BnearIT and will build on the 17 years of practical expertise in system integration and service oriented architecture that co-owners Fredrik Blomstedt and Per Olofsson bring with them. Sinetiq will operate under the leadership of Karl-Johan Gramner who also has an extensive background in IT and a clear focus on the international market. “Per and Fredrik’s competence and experience in this field is unique even in a global perspective. This makes the upcoming journey very exciting with  unexplored possibilities,” Gramner explains. “The need to enable existing and new systems to talk to each other will be enormous in the coming years. With our knowledge and experience, we will have a strong position in the market.”

In our interview, Gramner highlights that it is quickly becoming a necessity for companies to examine alternatives to traditional hard-coded system integration with limited interoperability. “Greater integration and a service oriented approach that allows flexible system development and the opportunity to leverage efficiency is crucial for companies to remain competitive. Consumers expect faster and better functionality and companies are forced to keep up” he says. At the same time, Gramner is aware that there are challenges in implementing these changes, “this is as much a change in culture and habits as it is a change in technology,” he says as he points out that it is often difficult for companies to accept a completely new approach or to fully understand that the promised gains in efficiency are truly achievable using an approach that they have never previously tried. This is where the insights and results of the Eclipse Arrowhead play a vital role, “we need proof of concept, the industrial results of the project need to be made as visible as possible and the framework needs to continue to be developed in as many industrial settings as possible.”

Sinetiq already has a number of clients on the Swedish market and operations will be managed from Head Office in Luleå, Sweden with services and product components also being offered internationally.
