Smooth sailing ahead for Arrowhead Tools
This week Kjell Bengtsson, Vice-President at Arrowhead Tools partner Jotne, was on location in Trondheim, Norway to oversee the installation of Arrowhead Tools software on the Gunnerus. Named after the founder of The Royal Norwegian Society of Science, Johan Ernst Gunnerus, the Gunnerus is a research vessel operated by the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU).
The 31 metre ship with a range of 20 nautical miles is equipped with a dynamic positioning system and technology for research activities in a range of fields. Now Arrowhead Tools form part of this offshore technology with sensors generating data using Tellu Cloud solutions and software developed at Ostfold University College feeding the data directly into Jotne’s ISO 10303 repository. This is the first step in a series of planned developments that will include installing sensors on the Gunnerus Palfinger crane later this year.
As Arrowhead Tools sets sail, Kjell Bengtsson sums up that the “most important ships in the Arrowhead project are still, however, the partnerSHIPS”.
